During this 10th International Colloquium of Aumism, we have seen together how Aumism proposes to approach the continuity between life on Earth and life in the hereafter. We have seen that life in the hereafter prepares life on Earth, and that life on Earth prepares life in the hereafter. The goal is always to perfect oneself, to realise Unity with God present in everyone as in all that lives. It is therefore necessary to give the present existence its full importance, that is, to contribute to the change of mentality and to put into practice the values of the new Era, which give Life its full importance.<\/p>\n
Broadly speaking, as we shall see, it is a matter of moving towards the peace of the Golden Age:<\/p>\n
– through a new relationship with oneself<\/p>\n
– through a new relationship with others and with nature<\/p>\n
– and through the education of children.<\/p>\n
In the Golden Age, the foundation of self-respect is the awareness that the Divine is within each of us. Life is precious, and in Aumism the body is considered the Temple of the soul. It is not a matter of idolising one’s outward appearance, but of maintaining one’s physical and mental balance.<\/p>\n
His Holiness the Lord HAMSAH MANARAH teaches that: “The body is a necessary working instrument whose life potential must be preserved at all costs and for as long as possible.”<\/em>[1]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n Adopting a healthy lifestyle<\/strong><\/p>\n – Practising physical exercise regularly but without excess is important. His Holiness the Lord HAMSAH MANARAH teaches us, for example, the virtues of hatha yoga, pranayama and martial arts practised in a spirit free of aggressiveness.<\/p>\n – Eating healthily: “One must choose foods that are useful, healthy and, as far as possible, pleasant to the taste.”<\/em>[2]<\/sup><\/a> It is advisable to move gradually towards a vegetarian diet, which helps maintain and strengthen one’s own health, safeguard the planet and protect animals.<\/p>\n – Taking care of oneself effectively: every human being must both strive to preserve their health through a healthy lifestyle and seek appropriate treatment in case of illness, “without disdaining,” the Lord tells us, “the precious contribution of medicine in all its forms.”<\/p>\n Refusing self-destruction<\/strong><\/p>\n – Addiction to drugs, or more generally to any toxic substance that the body ends up being unable to do without, constitutes a slow self-destruction. The Lord asks us the following question: “Who can find lasting happiness when they have a body of flesh with which to lead a happy life, and they kill it slowly with chemical substances?”<\/em>[3]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n – Suicide is a particularly serious act against oneself. Not harming one’s own life is a duty as important as not harming the life of others. Through prayer, it is important to help the soul of someone who has taken their own life.<\/p>\n Directing one’s thoughts well<\/strong><\/p>\n Balance, health and longevity depend on our thoughts. “The poisons of the soul are also poisons of the body.”<\/em>[4]<\/sup><\/a> “The emotions of life, passions, betrayals, the judgements of our fellow human beings, malicious criticism and the jealousies of some and others can only harm our health. That is why those who want to preserve their life capital are advised to control their senses, emotions and imagination without fail.”<\/em>[5]<\/sup><\/a> It is therefore necessary to learn to know oneself so as not to feed negative emotions and feelings, but on the contrary to develop calm, benevolence, altruism and tolerance.<\/p>\n – Another aspect: thought is creative. “What you think, you will become in your future.”<\/em>[6]<\/sup><\/a> Unlike pessimistic, defeatist thoughts, positive thoughts directed towards progress and success can therefore improve our living conditions. In the end, man will find lasting balance by identifying with the divine Consciousness within him and no longer with the limitations of his personality. This new relationship with oneself, founded on respect for the Divine within oneself, goes hand in hand with respect for others and for nature.<\/p>\n In one’s relationship with the world, it is a matter of combining prayer and action. “My positions are clear,”<\/em> says His Holiness the Lord HAMSAH MANARAH, “they urge everyone to transcend selfishness and to help their neighbour through prayer, but also in concrete ways.”<\/em>[7]<\/sup><\/a> For those who are not believers, action can be accompanied by thoughts of benevolence and compassion.<\/p>\n Solidarity with human beings<\/strong><\/p>\n In Aumism, at the foundation of respect for others lies respect for the Divine present in everyone as in oneself. One must absolutely ask oneself the question “How should I act?” This means not harming the physical or moral integrity of others; eliminating division, violence and hatred from our behaviour; contributing every day to the happiness of those around us; and developing a sense of the general interest so as to take into account the happiness of the greatest number.<\/p>\n This means putting into practice the qualities needed to maintain peace:<\/p>\n – tolerance and the acceptance of differences, which does not mean always agreeing with the ideas of others, but recognising their right to think differently from us.<\/p>\n – Solidarity: it must be expressed concretely in everyday gestures towards the most deprived, as in humanitarian and social action, for the Golden Age is above all “the gesture of the hand held out to the one who suffers”.[8]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n We must also keep in mind that the Golden Age requires greater economic justice and a balanced sharing of the world’s wealth. Individual and collective action in the direction of the general interest goes beyond mere personal profit. It can be accompanied by this thought: “May economic and social justice be restored, and may every people be self-sufficient. May the Law of sharing and solidarity become planetary so that the Golden Age may come.”<\/em>[9]<\/sup><\/a> Working in this way to help others sets one on the path to lasting happiness.<\/p>\n The Lord HAMSAH MANARAH tells us: “To want differences to coexist on one and the same fraternal Earth, differences that know how to unite, in the collective interest, for the preservation of life: that is true unity.”<\/em>[10]<\/sup><\/a> In particular, let us not hesitate to pray for our leaders and political officials, in France but also throughout the world: “All human beings, believers and unbelievers, should be invited to direct thoughts of benevolence towards heads of state, peoples and nations, in order to prepare a future of social harmony and peace.”<\/em>[11]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n Solidarity with Nature<\/strong><\/p>\n The Divine is present in nature, which is alive. In Aumism, respect extends to nature because the Divine is present in all that lives. It is also explained and justified by the path of consciousness through the Evolutionary Pyramid of the Kingdoms of Nature, through the mineral, plant, animal and human kingdoms up to the Divine. The interdependence between the kingdoms is becoming more and more evident today. “A solidarity binds everything that exists in nature; man owes everything to nature and cannot survive without it.”<\/em>[12]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n Fortunately, in today’s world there are people of “good will” and positive actors, thousands of men and women from every society on the globe whose daily action aims to rebalance the world. Indeed, one can mention the many non-governmental organisations, the various associations and other local or international structures that work for a better world by promoting the sustainable development discussed at COP21: development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own. It aims to foster a state of harmony between human beings and between man and nature.<\/p>\n But it is urgent to continue in this direction on a large scale. In concrete terms, it is imperative for humanity to:<\/p>\n On the individual and collective level, this means avoiding acts of violence towards the kingdoms that serve as a support for the evolution of consciousness up to the human kingdom, and respecting and protecting them in concrete ways, as was discussed at the previous colloquium.<\/p>\n In the book L’Aumisme, la Doctrine de l’\u00c2ge d’Or<\/em> you will find the “Code of Honour of Man towards the kingdoms of nature”, which lists the duties of human beings, who must “understand that all the kingdoms are part of a whole” and must act to preserve nature and pray for the evolution of each kingdom: “Men, beyond their differences, must know how to unite at the bedside of their living environment, sick from being overexploited and polluted.”<\/em>[13]<\/sup><\/a> Let us recall here that the Sound OM accelerates the evolution of all living beings. It represents “the ark of the covenant between man and nature”.<\/p>\n Finally, we will address the education of children (and of parents), for this aspect is undoubtedly one of the major keys to the great successes of tomorrow’s societies.<\/p>\n “Children are the destiny of a nation and of the future world.”<\/em>[14]<\/sup><\/a> It is therefore necessary to give their education its full importance. The aim of education in Aumism is to contribute to the child’s happiness by fostering their complete development, so that they later enter adult life with qualities that favour their material, social, moral and spiritual success. Of course, the complete development of the child has so many different aspects that it would be illusory to try to cover them exhaustively in the time of this exchange.<\/p>\n The role of parents<\/strong><\/p>\n For adults, educating children is a way of putting sharing into practice: sharing know-how and life skills through many kinds of learning, and above all through the daily example of the benevolence and discernment so necessary in today’s world. Parents must both give a great deal of love and remember that they are only “the temporary custodians of these young shoots, who must be trained in the school of life”.[15]<\/sup><\/a> It is therefore important that they foster their children’s autonomy. Being responsible for a child is not always easy, and it can help parents to offer to the Divine the efforts that education demands.<\/p>\n Teaching the child the meaning and value of their life<\/strong><\/p>\n In Aumism, it is up to the family to pass on the Teaching in a way suited to each child and to set the example of prayer in the midst of everyday activities.<\/p>\n – The child will learn very early that the Divine is within them, which is fundamental to nourish their self-esteem and give value to their existence.<\/p>\n – They will understand the meaning of their life, which is to develop their aptitudes and qualities fully in order to express the Divine present within them, which will encourage them to take charge of their destiny.<\/p>\n – And knowing that life continues in the hereafter and through reincarnation, they will be able to free themselves from an excessive fear of death and commit fully to the present life, contributing their share to taking charge of the collective destiny.<\/p>\n They will therefore become aware of the need to respect themselves and to take their lifestyle into consideration. The Lord reminds us, for example: “From childhood, acquire good habits, including that of toning body and mind through the practice of a sport, a martial art and yoga.”<\/em>[16]<\/sup><\/a> They will experience the value of cultivating thoughts that are beneficial for themselves and for others.<\/p>\n Teaching the child the values of peace<\/strong><\/p>\n It is indispensable that the children of the new Era, in order to become actors of peace, develop the mentality of “knights of peace” and “citizens of the world”. Living in peace requires, from a young age, learning respect for nature and the everyday eco-friendly gestures that preserve it and save energy. Living in peace requires learning respect for others. Knowing that the Divine is in every being implies the absence of racism and sexism, and religious tolerance. The young person is then able to move beyond division. They develop “the sense of Universality. Their family is the whole of humanity. They dwell on what brings people together instead of what divides them. They love their country faithfully but do not forget that they are a citizen of the world…”<\/em>[17]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n Thus, the Lord insists, “educating children in the spirit of tolerance, respect for everyone, true love and mutual help means giving them the character that will make society better.”<\/em>[18]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n Living one’s present existence to the full means transforming oneself, accepting one’s mistakes without feeling guilty, the essential thing being to get back up after one’s missteps. It means choosing life, love for all beings and selfless service at every level of the social scale, through prayer and action. For humanity has reached the hour of the choice that alone can save the planet. Each person, in all conscience, must answer the question:<\/p>\n For or against Unity, respect for differences and solidarity?<\/p>\n For or against Life?<\/p>\n This need to move towards a new mentality concerns all human beings, believers or non-believers.
