Pollution of land, water and air, overexploitation linked to overconsumption, reckless deforestation and so on, with their impact on biodiversity and the climate, turn back against us, affecting our health and our life expectancy.<\/p>\n<p>May humanity measure the consequences of its choices, for &#8220;by destroying its own living environment, it destroys itself&#8221;.<br \/>May all those who govern unite without delay to curb short-term profit, a great polluter and predator of natural resources, which are not inexhaustible.<br \/>May all peoples unite to take on their shared responsibility towards nature and towards the future of the new generations.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The Earth is a collective planet,<\/em><br \/><em>it belongs to no one in particular but to each and every one collectively.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>(<em>Vers un Age d&#8217;Or d&#8217;Unit\u00e9<\/em>, p. 455)<\/p>\n<p>It is important for each of us to work alongside those in the world who, fortunately, understand the urgency of change: to leave behind self-centred comfort, and to act individually and collectively to preserve the environment. To cultivate, and pass on to young people, love for both human beings and nature.
