EDUCATING FOR RESPECT
Today mutual respect must be restored to its rightful place. Education is the springboard for this indispensable change of mentality.
“People will not know peace and harmony until they have developed greater respect for the human worth of their neighbour.“
(Yoga et Sagesse, p. 257)
That is why the founder of Aumism addresses educators: “Parents, schoolteachers and teachers of all countries, unite in the sacred duty of developing the feeling of fraternity in all children!“
With the men and women who, on every continent, make education the bringing into the world of a happier humanity, let us give children the desire and the ability to avoid or resolve conflicts, to cooperate and to cultivate “non-violence, the absence of racism, sympathy for all nations, respect for all beliefs and religions, universal Love.” (Le Yoga de la Vie pratique, p. 277) [1]
More than ever, beyond present difficulties, let us remember that young people are the living forces of tomorrow’s world. Setting them an example and educating them in mutual respect is a necessary contribution to their fulfilment in relationships and to social balance.
