A crucial question

This decade forces us to see the dramatic consequences of the desire for revenge which, throughout history and still today, feeds hatreds and fratricidal wars.
No one is indifferent to the suffering caused by violence. Everyone wishes to escape fear and the feeling of powerlessness.
The following text, from Vers un Age d’Or d’Unité, p. 177, reminds us of the importance of our choice of life, and of the mental attitude needed for any sincere action for peace to be effective.

“Two world wars have taken place, setting peoples against peoples and nations against nations. If a 3rd war took place, do you believe the Earth would survive it?

The mirror of the future cannot give rise to this third international catastrophe, or else the Earth would capsize once again into its complex of self-destruction.

Some will then ask: ‘What is the solution to lift humanity out of the rut of hatreds and quarrels?’

To this crucial question, there are 5 lines of answer:

1. The path of the great Forgiveness. [1]

2. The great Reconciliation of man with nature. [2]

3. Detachment from the past. [3]

4. The cancelling of thoughts of hatred by sending out thoughts of love. [4]

5. The ideal of unity.” [5]
