Moving beyond divisions

To feel separate from others is to think that they are not part of the same humanity.
“It is giving oneself the convenient pretext of saying: ‘I am not the other, so I can do anything to him.’” (Vers un Age d’Or d’Unité, p. 192). This condones acts of hatred that culminate in barbarity, in particular that of wars, with the dehumanisation both of the victims, robbed of their humanity, and of the executioners, who express nothing but their inhumanity.
It is forgetting that we are all an integral part of the same humanity.
It is “seeing appearances while forgetting that God is in everyone”, which in Aumism and in other Traditions is the foundation of the unity of humanity.
We are all connected: we cannot hurt others without hurting ourselves. We therefore understand that learning to neutralise our aggressive reactions through thoughts of kindness and forgiveness protects both others and… ourselves from the consequences of our violence. Moreover, being kind to others is being kind to oneself!
By fostering, day after day, respect for Human Rights in the world and the collective interest beyond selfishness, we can step by step clear a path for the unity that alone will save our planet from the ravages of division:

“Unity is not the crushing of opposites but their reconciliation,
their unification within one supportive and fraternal whole.”
(La Révolution du monde des Vivants et des Morts, p. 506)
