No. 3 – PEACE IS ALSO PREPARED WITHIN OURSELVES
No. 3 – PEACE IS ALSO PREPARED WITHIN OURSELVES
Ladies and Gentlemen, dear Friends,
When we visit the Holy City of Mandarom Shambhasalem, we walk with admiration among the sacred temples, the giant statues and the universal symbols. During the visit, amid all this Wonder, our attention is also drawn to a stele. It is the stele of the Association des Chevaliers du Vajra Triomphant (Association of the Knights of the Triumphant Vajra)…
Engraved in a marble of eternity, we can read these principles, which the Founder of Aumism wished to have displayed from the very beginning of His Mission: LOVE, FORGIVE, SERVE, MEDITATE, REALISE THE DIVINE WITHIN ONESELF.
A little further on, at a bend in a path, a maxim echoes it directly, a true call to our souls on the path of evolution: “THE SERVICE OF HUMANITY THROUGH THE CONQUEST OF ONESELF!”
These words, which speak so deeply to our hearts, remind us that every inner advance has an effect on the world.
In this talk, I therefore invite us to reflect together on something that may seem utopian at first but will one day become reality: all work of inner pacification at the level of the individual also prepares peace at world level.
We will thus be able to examine how the Teachings of Aumism can accompany the high social commitments presented by the speakers at this 2026 symposium, “Together for peace”.
In education, culture, science, economic justice, interreligious tolerance, spirituality, the social and political sciences and the dynamic of reflection on freedoms, all these fields of action help to bring about the effective transformation of humanity towards an era at last at peace, which tradition calls the Golden Age.
The ancient adage “If you want to change the world, begin by changing yourself” has always inspired those who seek wisdom.
All traditions indeed speak of humanity as the sum of all the individuals who make it up. The contribution of each one of us counts.
There are of course opposing tendencies within us, which feed now division, now harmony.
We must therefore move beyond the former and develop the latter. This will allow us to journey towards an inner peace that will be expressed in our life, in our relationships and in all our actions, small and great.
But how should we go about it? How can we bring about this reform within us, this profound transformation of our being?
In the Light of the spiritual Teaching of His Holiness Lord HAMSAH MANARAH, I invite you to look together at some of the paths that foster serenity. Thanks to the initiatic Keys made available in Aumism, every sincere person can set out to experience a happy personal transformation.
The very transformation that, through conscious work, allows us to free ourselves of our own violence, and then gradually to integrate and grow inner peace within us.
The quotations in this talk come from some of the 22 Books written by Lord HAMSAH MANARAH: Le Yoga de la Vie pratique, Naturopathie et Yoga, Yoga et Sagesse, La Loi d’Évolution des Âmes and L’Aumisme, La Doctrine de l’Âge d’Or.
What gives grounds for optimism is that we can undertake this inner work of transformation at any age, in any circumstances and whatever our path.
The Founder of Aumism stresses that improving ourselves for the happiness of the world is both an opportunity and a responsibility for each one of us.
I – TECHNIQUES FOR CALM AND SELF-MASTERY
The promise made to us is that we can free ourselves of our own violence and manage better the emotions that disturb us by harmonising body and mind.
Cultivating calm
“Calm grows stronger with perseverance in practice. It is the first step towards the inner detachment that frees us from fear…” [1]
Soothing our emotions
This detachment and self-observation free us from the pressure of negative emotions, those that trigger aggressive reactions in us, such as fear, anger and jealousy.
Working on our breathing
Beyond the great physiological benefits of breath control, this discipline allows us to master the vital forces of the body, which Tradition tells us is the first instrument for attaining Perfection.
“For thousands of years the Sages of India and seekers of every country have recognised the remarkable role of breathing in the mechanism of life, the preservation of health, the control of thought and spiritual work in general.” [2]
The practice of Hatha Yoga and the martial arts
These ancient sciences, defined as sources of health and happiness, are schools of self-mastery and self-transformation. We will see live presentations and dynamic demonstrations of them after this talk.
Controlling our thoughts
Lord HAMSAH MANARAH teaches us that “thought is a double-edged weapon: on the positive side it can generate love, peace and brotherhood, and on the negative side war, hatred and destruction.” [3]
“Our thoughts create the state of the world.”
Aumism therefore teaches us to counterbalance a thought of hatred within us with a kindly thought, to cancel a negative thought and replace it with a beneficial one.
The river of thoughts of hatred generates collective conflicts. But the river of thoughts of love nourishes peace.
Forgiveness
It is a privileged means of emerging from violence, our own and that of others.
Granting forgiveness helps us move beyond the desire for revenge against someone who has wronged us. Asking for forgiveness when we are in the wrong implies the resolve to change so as not to repeat harmful behaviour.
“If people know how to forgive one another,” declares Lord HAMSAH MANARAH, “if they know how to forget the past, border disputes will ease, civil wars will diminish, and war, the cruel expression of hatred, will at last disappear for ever.” [4]
Having looked at techniques for calm and self-mastery, let us now consider:
II – THE SPIRITUAL TECHNIQUES OF AUMISM THAT FOSTER INNER PEACE
The life of a disciple in contact with the Energy of a Divine Incarnation is extraordinary, for we are in the very presence of the Infinite. We benefit from a living spirituality, and we gain access not only to the deepest knowledge of the traditions of the whole world but also to inspiring spiritual discoveries.
Liberating practices:
A new Teaching revealed by His Holiness Lord HAMSAH MANARAH: the cleansing of the aerial double and the plantar double, located above our head and beneath our feet.
While the memory of civilisations has always spoken of a double of darkness in human nature that prevents the full expression of divinity, no one had revealed this vibratory anatomy of the being with such precision. Above all, no one had taught how to cleanse and illuminate one’s doubles with the Sound OM in order to free oneself from them and bring peace to one’s whole being.
Another technique: positive affirmations
Listened to, displayed or spoken, they are one of the pillars of Aumist metaphysics for our transformation. Combined with the power of imagination (the faculty of creating beneficial images) and with the repetition of mantras, affirmations support our efforts towards success and crystallise our wishes in matter. They can help increase self-confidence, inner strength and serenity.
Practices that uplift the soul:
Reading sacred texts and writings on spirituality and evolutionary philosophy: they build us up and awaken in us the desire to find wisdom and inner peace again.
Sacred songs, performed by the Aumist choir in France and at the Centrom Centre in Pointe-Noire, Congo. Sacred songs uplift our souls; they speak directly to our hearts, they transform us, and they bring down energies of blessing and harmony within and around us.
Prayer
In solitude, or better still in a group, prayer truly changes the vibration of the world: “The meeting of all good thoughts and all good feelings attracts happy events for humanity…” [5]
Meditation
In keeping with the ancient Tradition of Raja Yoga, Aumism incorporates the primary aim of meditation defined in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, in Sanskrit “Yogas chitta vritti nirodhah”: “Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind.”
But Aumist meditation adds the dynamics of thought, visualisation and the repetition of mantras for the pacification of the world. It can act, for example, on the evolution of the kingdoms of nature and on the unity of religions and peoples.
The repetition of AUM
A prayer so fundamental that Lord HAMSAH MANARAH gave its name to His Religion, the Religion of the Unity of the Faces of GOD.
Lord HAMSAH MANARAH teaches us that this sacred Sound, mother of all sounds, calms and transforms the person who repeats it, and that it also contributes directly to the transformation and peace of the world: “Chant AUM in a low voice: it will calm your mind, foster concentration and help healing. Chant AUM mentally, and you will reach more easily concentration, meditation and the inner strength that frees and delivers the soul.” [6]
“Remember the chant of AUM. It saves souls in despair. It saves peoples from destruction.” [7]
Affirming our Unity with GOD
An essential practice, for the message of Aumism insists above all on the Reality of the Divine Presence in each one of us.
We can lighten ourselves and free ourselves from the limitations of the personality by affirming from the depths of our being that “we are neither this body, nor these thoughts, nor this personality; we are the Supreme Self in unity with the universal Consciousness, in unity with the Divine Consciousness, which is Peace, Love, Light, Wisdom, infinite Bliss…”
IN CONCLUSION
We can realise that the conquest of inner peace truly contributes to collective peace, unfolding at the very heart of our outward actions to transform the world.
It is so reassuring to realise that humanity can always gain access to universal spiritual riches, even in these troubled times at the dawn of the Golden Age.
This cultivation of inner peace does not isolate us; it is not turned only towards oneself.
Rather, it prepares us and accompanies us; it brings life to our actions and our commitments in the world.
If we place our personal efforts at the service of peace, then the Earth will be at peace. Together, our journeys will leave their mark on society and shine out, making each and every one of us, in our own measure, apostles of Peace…
Peace and Love are the first two sacred words present in all the blessings of Aumism. One does not exist without the other, and each exists through the other.
They are alive in the strength of example, the example of those great Souls, those Divine Incarnations who, in attaining the ultimate Realisation, leave humanity the ineffable fragrance of true Peace, which each of us wishes to find again.
Then these words of His Holiness Lord HAMSAH MANARAH resound within us and give us a goal: “EXTEND LOVE TO THE WORLD” and “WORK FOR WORLD PEACE”.
“Love makes forgiveness possible, Love makes every reconciliation possible,
Love brings joy and happiness to homes,
Love gives birth to generations, Love is above all the elixir of solidarity,
Love is above all the Light of Hope.” [8]
OM
Thank you for your attention.
