AUMISM: THE RELIGION OF BALANCE

The theme of this 2008 Symposium is:

“RETURNING TO PERSONAL AND PLANETARY BALANCE”

For there to be a return to balance, imbalances must first have occurred.

Since all forms of life are the result of a fragile “balance between the force of life and the force of death, between the force of cohesion and the force of disintegration”,[1] imbalances harmful to life and to the future of humanity arise over time. “Life being ordered matter”,[2] any disorder or imbalance is detrimental to life.

The purpose of this talk is to explain, with the help of an example, how imbalances that are detrimental to life and to the happiness of humanity come about.

We will then identify the causes of these imbalances and the present situation of our societies.

Finally, we will set out the answers offered by the Aumist religion for maintaining or restoring balance when it has been compromised.

I – THE BREAKDOWN OF HUMAN AND PLANETARY BALANCE

To explain as simply as possible the problems posed by the breakdown of balance in the lives of human beings and of the planet, we will turn to a story. This story, told by His Holiness Lord HAMSAH MANARAH in his book Vers un Âge d’Or d’Unité,[3] is that of the planet Earth likened to a ship sailing on the ocean of the cosmos.

After long being uninhabited, the ship Earth is now teeming with activity. A humanity has been born under the auspices of the Ark of Unity and of the Covenant with the Creative Principle of all life. This Covenant and this Unity ensure perfect harmony on the ship Earth. Everyone’s tasks are perfectly defined, organised, shared and carried out. All do their work with enthusiasm, fully aware of their responsibilities. All know that their common destiny depends on the unity between them. The ship sails serenely on the ocean of life towards its destiny.

But over time, the benefits of these rules of good conduct were forgotten. Tired and weary of always making the same gestures and following the same instructions, one member of the crew ended up falling asleep. The others were quick to follow this bad example and to “lounge in the meadow of the wildest illusory dreams”. Concerned only with themselves, they imagined they were living in a state of fullness: no more bustle, no more hard work, no more responsibilities to take on. It was idyllic happiness in universal rest.

As they had become indifferent to the fate of the ship, the tasks essential to navigation and to the survival of the planetary vessel were no longer carried out. The deck and the holds became a gigantic rubbish dump. Mould and disease grew on the accumulated waste.

Forced to live in a pestilential atmosphere resulting from depraved behaviour, the passengers split into opposing clans. In this noxious atmosphere, the harmony and happy balance of former days, which had ensured the splendour and smooth running of the ship, were broken and gave way to confrontation and division. “Every man for himself” replaced the law of solidarity and sharing. Altruism gave way to individualism and selfishness.

And so the planetary ship, originally perfectly ordered, clean and luminous, became the dumping ground for collective repressions and everyone’s evil inclinations. Because they had fallen asleep, failed in their respective tasks and responsibilities, and broken the fundamental law of balance and fair sharing that ensures the continuation of life, the ship was wrecked.

II – NOW LET US LOOK AT THE CAUSES OF THE SHIPWRECK

The ultimate cause of the wreck of the planetary ship is the breaking of the pact of Covenant and Unity made with the creative forces of life, which ensured the balance and safety of the vessel. Each time human beings forget these principles and these elementary rules of life, they sink into individualism. Their personal games then set them against one another; they act against the interest of the community and create imbalances and suffering that lead to their downfall.

The problem is not new. At a time when teaching was given almost exclusively by religions, they laid down rules and codes of life. The purpose of these rules was to give human beings meaning and reference points in order to maintain the harmony and social peace indispensable to the happy flourishing of Life. Examples include the Ten Commandments in Christianity and, in Judaism, the 613 moral, disciplinary and ritual Laws of the Torah. In Hinduism and Buddhism, respect for the Dharma saved people from suffering. The Aumist religion advocates the application of the 12 Golden Age Laws and of Codes of life and honour. But today’s lack of interest in religions helps to devalue these precepts in the eyes of humanity.

Independently of religious practice, it is each person’s individual responsibility that is at stake. The future of the human race depends on the ability of each individual to assume fully their responsibilities and duties towards their fellow human beings, towards nature and towards Creation.

The degree of advancement of a society inevitably depends on the behaviour and the degree of evolution of each individual in it. All those who wish to help humanity progress must not make the mistake of wanting to reform “the others, always the others”, as the song says.[4] The only consistent and truly effective line of conduct a responsible person can adopt to make human society evolve is to reform oneself. To avoid the wreck of our planetary ship, individual awareness is essential. Each person must restore within themselves the principles of unity and solidarity, and also of covenant with the creative forces of life. The future of humanity depends on our attitude and our personal choices. This is the line of conduct taught by the Aumist religion.

Each person must realise that, without individual balance, it would be illusory to believe in a possible planetary balance.

III – THE PRESENT SITUATION OF OUR SOCIETIES

There is no doubt that over the last few centuries the development of science and industry has brought comfort and material well-being to humanity.

But our society also generates ills. The constraints imposed by market laws and by global competition create tensions and a malaise that is both moral and physical.

In becoming materialistic, the mistake of contemporary societies has been, as in the story of the ship, to break the Covenant and Unity with the creative forces of life. To correct this deficiency and its serious consequences, the education given to humanity must be balanced.[5] In other words, this education must not be exclusively intellectual, scientific and rational. It must combine reason and intuition, the rational and the spiritual.

The happiness of human beings cannot be based solely on the conquest of matter and on social success while ignoring the spiritual element of human nature.[6] A problem of a spiritual order requires a spiritual answer.

To avoid imbalances, it is urgent to train citizens capable of exercising their individual and collective responsibility: citizens capable of dealing soundly with the problems humanity faces, in harmony with the great spiritual forces at work within man and within Creation. It is urgent that man become aware that he holds the future of the human species in his hands.

IV – HOW THE AUMIST RELIGION CAN HELP RESTORE THE COVENANT AND UNITY WITH THE CREATIVE FORCES OF LIFE

It is by educating the human person about the deep meaning of life and about what Unity and Covenant with the Creative Principle of all life imply that the Aumist religion can help to ensure a happy future for humanity. This education must be freely accepted, for what is imposed often produces the opposite of the desired effect.

Moved by infinite compassion for humanity, and despite the difficult and hostile context of the time, His Holiness Lord HAMSAH MANARAH devoted His life to this noble Mission.

To offer all human beings, without distinction, the means of maintaining or, as the case may be, restoring the balances indispensable to life, Lord HAMSAH MANARAH promulgated and instituted a number of values, concepts and structures, which we will list briefly.

First of all, He founded Aumism, the universal religion of the third millennium, in the form of a spiritual doctrine of balance and salvation centred on the evolution of mentalities and the happiness of all beings.

To promote this religion, He built the Holy City of MANDAROM Shambhasalem, instituted a monastic and initiatic order, and founded a community of secular members made up of clergy and faithful.

He wrote a teaching of twenty-two books and nine thousand pages of text covering every aspect of life. The lectures given during this Symposium have shown the realistic nature of this teaching, which gives man a preponderant place and role within creation and society.

We have seen that the Aumist religion recommends taking care of the body of flesh, which is the Temple of the soul. The body must in no way be regarded as a prison or an obstacle to spiritual life. On the contrary, it must be regarded with respect as the receptacle, the tabernacle, the dwelling of the divine Presence in each of us.

Believers or atheists, all human beings must become aware of their inner reality, or risk causing serious dysfunctions of the personality. Long ago, human beings discovered that prayer, meditation and introspection were the best means of developing and bringing to flower this intimate and essential part of the human person.

That is why the Aumist religion gives prayer pride of place once more, as a powerful factor of evolution and balance in every aspect of life. In its pure and authentic meaning, the assiduous and fervent repetition of a divine Name allows human beings to RE-connect with the high evolutionary and creative energies of the universal divine Consciousness. For the Aumist religion, this relationship with and identification with the Divine is the royal road to spiritual Realisation. It helps the human being to acquire the qualities and attributes of the Absolute, such as love of one’s neighbour, strength, balance, knowledge, Light, inner peace and so on. The faithful can then, like CHRIST, proclaim to the world: “I and the Father are One”,[7] or again: “I said, you are Gods, you are all sons of the Most High”.[8]

The lectures also explained the main concepts offered by the Aumist religion to help educate humanity. Among them, let us recall the Evolutionary Pyramid of the kingdoms of Nature, whose function is to teach the close interdependence between minerals, plants, animals, human beings and the divine world or universal Consciousness. This pyramid shows the evolutionary nature of Creation and the vital importance of balance. When an imbalance contrary to the laws of life occurs on any one of the planes of the Pyramid, it has repercussions on the whole structure. The direction of the Pyramid is then reversed: from evolutionary it becomes involutionary and endangers the future of humanity. A humanity that destroys its environment destroys itself.

The Hexamide, which was also presented during this Symposium, sums up the spiritual approach and the mental attitude that the Aumist religion invites all human beings to adopt. Restoring the primordial Unity within oneself helps to put an end to religious conflicts and to bring PEACE back to the world. Returning to the source and origin of all life, represented by the sphere at the summit of the Hexamide, removes the stain of Evil and restores the state of purity before the “fall”. The Talmud states that when this return to God is made out of love rather than fear, it prolongs life.[9]

With its one dogma, “The Unity of the Faces of God”, and its postulate, “The Unity of peoples and religions”, the Aumist religion asserts itself as an authentic religion of balance, tolerance and respect for all beings and all religions.

During this Symposium we also saw that the Aumist religion does not regard death as an inexorable end to life. It is a “change of state” that offers the soul the opportunity to continue its evolution in that great spiritual University, the earthly Column of Light. Through the cycle of deaths and rebirths, the Column of Light manages the evolutionary process of souls. The purpose of this evolution is to establish the Golden Age on Earth. In Aumism there is no longer an eternal purgatory, hell or paradise, for in Creation nothing is final; everything is becoming, in movement and alive. This revolution of life after death helps to remove the frightening character of death, which is the cause of most of the fears and anxieties that terrify humanity. By dispelling anxieties, the Aumist religion relieves suffering.

We will end this list of the founding concepts of the Aumist religion devoted to the mental and spiritual evolution of humanity with the Pyramid Temple of the Unity of the Faces of God. In addition to its strictly spiritual role, the function of this Temple, which the Aumist religion has the Mission of rebuilding in the Holy City of MANDAROM SHAMBHASALEM, is to preserve and restore planetary balance. Crowned by a glass Pyramid, this Temple is an architectural synthesis of all the Temples that have ever existed. As such, it gives concrete form to the Earth’s vocation to evolve towards rediscovered Unity. His Holiness Lord HAMSAH MANARAH, Founder of the Aumist religion, reveals that the spiritual role and beneficial effects of this Temple are the guarantee of a lasting Golden Age and of a better world and future. He specifies: “Scientists will not see its usefulness but will be obliged to note its miraculous effects.” Even if a certain militant atheist materialism is fiercely opposed to the building of this Temple, it is nonetheless indispensable for ensuring the survival, progress and future of humanity.

The Earth needs this Temple to regain its balance. It is the hope of each and every one and an opportunity for humanity, if it can accept it without reacting too hatefully.

V – CONCLUSION

In conclusion to this talk and to this symposium, all the situations humanity must face come back to the human being, who is the main cause and also the only solution of all the problems encountered. The inescapable conclusion is this: man lives in the mental, spiritual and material world that he himself has created and that he alone has the power to transform and to make evolve towards a spiritualisation of himself and of the Kingdoms of Nature. Each human being is responsible for their own destiny and for the future of the planet and of humanity.

To secure this future, His Holiness Lord HAMSAH MANARAH has offered humanity a balanced programme of life in common and given each of us this advice and encouragement:

“Work, pray, meditate and be saved by your powerful desire to evolve

and to overcome the self-destruction that threatens.”

“Humanity rises towards its goal in a sublime Hierarchy

in which freedom grows in proportion to Wisdom.”
