THE MESSIAH’S BATTLES AND NON-VIOLENCE

SUMMARY

“The Messiah’s Battles and non-violence”. As the MESSIAH, Lord HAMSAH MANARAH waged the Battles that were necessary to deliver humanity from Evil and to restore to it the freedom to choose peace. Through the power of Prayer and the almighty power of the divine Word, He struck down the principle of Evil. But since Evil has its roots in the human heart, it is now up to us to wage our inner battle in order to transmute the feelings that stand in the way of non-violence and to take charge of the future of the planet.

TALK

Introduction

The two terms “battle” and “Messiah” in the title of this talk may at first sight seem contradictory to those who have only a vague idea of the Mission that a Messiah comes to accomplish for humanity.

A battle requires two adversaries. The adversary against which the Messiah did Battle is the Evil that stands in the way of the evolution of the world.

To regenerate the energies of life and save the planet Earth from self-destruction, the Messiah had only one choice: that of Battle against the opposing forces of involution.

In this talk we will address the following points:

I – THE ORIGIN AND DEVASTATING EFFECT OF EVIL

II – THE MESSIAH’S BATTLES TO SAVE HUMANITY

1. The nature of the Messiah’s Battles

2. The battle on the two fronts of society and the inner world

3. The responsibility and role of humanity

I – THE ORIGIN AND DEVASTATING EFFECT OF EVIL

Contrary to an all too widespread opinion, it is not GOD, through powerlessness or injustice, who is responsible for Evil. To this question, which over the centuries has occupied the greatest minds without any satisfactory result, the Aumist Religion answers without hesitation: it is human beings who create Evil. Through ignorance of the subtle mechanisms that govern life, human beings make mistakes that have serious consequences for the fragile balance of all vital processes. These disruptions can go so far as to threaten the continuation of life on Earth.

Whereas for most people Evil means sickness, wars, disasters and the destruction of the environment, in His book Vers un Âge d’Or d’Unité His Holiness Lord HAMSAH MANARAH explains that Evil is not only that. These are merely results whose real origin lies in an erroneous way of thinking that dictates irresponsible and suicidal behaviour.

Human thought has the remarkable and formidable power of being creative. The creative power of human thought is positive and beneficial as long as humanity contains a majority of beings who cultivate altruistic feelings of goodness, peace and justice in the field of their consciousness. Then the forces of evolution that govern life are stimulated and can serenely follow their course. But conversely, this same power of thought becomes devastating when human society is mostly made up of individuals without morals who entertain selfish thoughts of hatred and violence in their minds. Then the negative forces of involution and death gain the upper hand and draw humanity into a dangerous process of self-destruction with many faces.

It is these complex mechanisms that produce the Evil denounced and fought by the Messiah.

Let us recall that for the Eastern Wisdoms the ultimate structure of the Universe is mental.

In this sense, Evil is also remaining attached to the harmful behaviour of the past and shutting oneself up in the darkness of error and illusion. Evil is refusing salutary transformation and remaining, in the depths of one’s unconscious, rebellious to Light and Truth.

“Evil is believing that it is man who directs life, whereas God the Creator, present in each of us, acts at every moment to preserve the garden of life and free it from the climbing ivy of evil inclinations.”

Evil is refusing to see the beneficial effects of the cosmic labour and of the Law of Evolution, which work to reintegrate into God the Creator all the beings who must return to the source of their birth and of all life.

Beyond a certain critical threshold the system feeds itself: Evil leads to Evil, violence leads to violence, and the mechanism escapes human control.

Then a stunned humanity sees:

1. In society: an alarming rise in crime, including juvenile crime, the multiplication of wars, genocides, famines and suffering, and the globalisation of terrorism and of humanitarian disasters.

2. In nature: cataclysms taking on terrifying proportions.

His Holiness Lord HAMSAH MANARAH reminds us that: “Nature is a mother with many faces. She can heal, she can provide for the needs of humans and animals, but she also knows how to grow angry when her laws and balances are defied.” (Les Combats du Messie, p. 279)

Without an antidote, imbalances, once created, become “irreversible” (Vers un Âge d’Or d’Unité).

It was to help humanity put an end to its wanderings and to restore the fundamental balances of life that the Messiah’s intervention was indispensable.

Some schools of thought consider that religions use the fear of Evil to dominate minds. The danger that the hold of Evil represents for humanity is an undeniable reality, not the product of an unbridled imagination. The role of religions is also to warn humanity against this kind of peril. Humanity is capable of the best and of the worst. Left to himself, man can defy the laws of life and seriously upset its balances, to the point of passing the point of no return by destroying his environment and endangering his own existence.

II – THE MESSIAH’S BATTLES TO SAVE HUMANITY

1. THE NATURE OF THE MESSIAH’S BATTLES

In the introduction to his book Les Combats du Messie attendu pour sauver la Terre et la Création, His Holiness Lord HAMSAH MANARAH writes:

“Hatred has sprouted in the heart (of men), to the point of perverting Creation.”

To deliver humanity from this perversion, to eliminate this harmful energy of hatred and death from the earthly sphere, and to release the creative forces of life and evolution that make it possible to establish on solid foundations the new society of the Golden Age, of Unity, Truth, Peace and universal solidarity, the Messiah had only one choice: that of Battle against the evil forces.

The Scriptures of India teach the same principle in these terms: to “halt the decline that keeps growing until the human race approaches its annihilation… the Divine Essence… descends to Earth… to restore righteousness in the World”.

This is the difficult Mission that His Holiness Lord HAMSAH MANARAH agreed to take on for an incredulous and rebellious humanity.

Beyond “the coarse clamour of the masses… usually provoked by… any moralising speech and any call for reform” (Les Combats du Messie, p. 37), the Messiah had, in silence and accompanied by a small number, to restore the balance and harmony indispensable to the expression of life.

I quote His Holiness:

“To pacify, harmonise and reconcile: such was Our daily work during those nine years (from 1981 to 1990) of intense and constant battles. My Battle was a Battle for the Peace of hearts and minds. Many times I declared war on hatred, on disharmony, on the karma of memories that makes billions of souls suffer, on the physical as well as the astral plane.” (Les Combats du Messie, pp. 481 ff.)

The Battles waged by the Messiah are above all a considerable work of alchemical transmutation of all the planes of consciousness and all the dimensions of Creation, in order to restore the balance of the worlds. They are purely spiritual Battles, waged on the plane of the subtle energies of life, through prayer and the power of the creative Word.

The Messiah’s Battles had no motive other than the higher interest of humanities, with the continuation of life on earth and in the universes as its corollary. The transmutation in question is a transmutation of the energies of death, hatred, sacrifice and cruelty into positive forces of life-creating Light. Even if the eyes of matter do not always see the conversion of negative energies into the Light of synthesis and into a river of diamonds, it is nonetheless irreplaceable.

As the fox rightly says to the little prince: “One sees clearly only with the heart. What is essential is invisible to the eye.” (A. de Saint-Exupéry)

The Evil fought by the Messiah “held back the flights of souls”, it “prevented good and generous feelings from expressing themselves”, and it turned human beings away from the path of truth. This Evil sank its roots into the human heart, breeding “inertia, laziness and selfishness”, and above all the illusion generated by the phenomenal world, which keeps souls chained to “limiting matter”.

“What matters,” writes the Messiah, “is to have accomplished this immense work of redemption. Whether or not it is recognised, we have acted with detachment and expect neither gratitude nor homage for the service rendered to humanities.” (Les Combats du Messie, p. 571)

But to defeat Evil once and for all and free the planet Earth from its hold, every human being must wage an inner battle against himself and the negative aspects of his personality.

2. THE BATTLE ON THE TWO FRONTS OF SOCIETY AND THE INNER WORLD

The Messiah invites humanity to wage the battle on both fronts at once: that of society and that of the inner world.

In society, we must “give back to humble mortals a taste for effort and for battle with dignity and discipline. Effort to win without destroying the potential rival. It is not on indiscipline, softness and lukewarmness that the new humanity of the Golden Age will be built. It is not on vice, negligence and slackness that the remnants of the dark age will be finally defeated.” (L’Aumisme, la Doctrine de l’Âge d’Or, pp. 70-71) The future rests on the education that will be given to future generations.

But we must not forget to wage the battle on the inner front as well.

It is face to face with himself that man must wage the hardest battle, against the dark side of himself, his faults and his flaws, which seek to make him fall back into the errors of the past. “The battle is waged by confronting oneself with tenacity, for to retreat is a betrayal, and the one who goes forward is supported and protected in his efforts. To save one’s soul one must struggle; each time one falls, one must get up again and ‘take up the sword once more to cut, through the mountains of ignorance, the path that leads… to wisdom’. ‘Battle is life; it is the last chance to escape the traps of illusion.’”

When the Messiah says “Fight the demons”, this does not mean “Fight the demons outside yourselves”. It means “being victorious over oneself, the better to overcome the forces (of involution) and dissociation that surround the self”.

The Battle advocated by the Messiah, on the individual and collective level, is meant to put an end to all ills, to all the poisons of the soul.

This form of battle, ruled by the power of Love, leads to illumination, to wisdom and to the truth of existence; it is a liberating battle. Those who abandon this battle “are tormentors of the soul, which they drown in an ocean of darkness” (L’Aumisme, la Doctrine de l’Âge d’Or, p. 72). “Just as surely as battle leads to illumination, weakness leads to perdition.”

“The universe belongs to those who know how to act without self-interest and who have only one aim: to serve the cause of the worlds for their purification.” (L’Aumisme, la Doctrine de l’Âge d’Or, p. 75)

In L’Unité des Visages de Dieu, Lord HAMSAH MANARAH writes: “You alone can destroy your burdens. Purify your thoughts, purify your words, purify your minds, and do not rebuild your chains of illusion.”

Knowing that present actions determine the future, “men must find more strength to resist Evil and wickedness and to apply themselves to progressing on the path of love and wisdom” (Les Combats du Messie, p. 570).

The establishment of the Golden Age requires an awareness of individual responsibilities, a reform of mentalities, willpower, perseverance and vigilance.

3. THE RESPONSIBILITY AND ROLE OF HUMANITY

On the human scale, the beneficial effects of the Battles waged by the Messiah may seem slow to take shape on Earth. This slowness is not due to the Messiah but to humanity.

The Messiah has carried out the reforms on the plane of spiritual energies. It is now up to humanity to crystallise and give concrete form to the Golden Age on Earth, first of all through its own inner transformation.

Since humanity is educated and made responsible through the experiences it lives through, the Messiah, deeply respectful of individual freedoms, places each human being before their responsibilities. Each remains free to accept or refuse the Golden Age. But the Messiah gives this warning: “Earth… you now have 1,000 years to make your choice and succeed in giving concrete form to the Golden Age, in crystallising it… I say it: after 10 centuries of transition, if the Golden Age remains a fantasy on the plane of matter, then the hopes of a planet-wide Golden Age will be over…” (Les Combats du Messie, conclusion)

To spread the Golden Age across the planet, man must free himself from the pressure of the prevailing materialism in order to awaken to his inner world and to the Kingdom of God present within him. He must free himself from the various veils of illusion that hide the Truth from him (Les Combats du Messie, p. 279).

To make the beneficial effects of His Battles last over time, the Messiah also had to remind human beings of their elementary duties towards life.

He had to deliver a Teaching intended to educate and guide humanity on the path of evolution, so as to put an end to the unleashing of passions and violence: a Teaching intended to awaken the will for Peace of all the peoples of this Earth (Je suis le Messie attendu, p. 205).

The Messiah also had to re-establish religion on sound and solid foundations, centred on “Spiritual Liberation” and on the search for wisdom and truth concerning the eminent place and role of man within Creation.

A revolution of this kind is not accomplished without arousing inevitable reactions of opposition and rejection. We need only recall the fate that humanity reserved for Christ, for Mahatma Gandhi, for the pastor Martin Luther King and for many other famous figures.

Pioneers who come to shake up established habits in order to change behaviour are disturbing. Lord HAMSAH MANARAH did not escape this fate.

CONCLUSION

By way of conclusion, here are some extracts from a magnificent poem composed by His Holiness Lord HAMSAH MANARAH. On its own, this poem, entitled “THE WAR I LOVE”, perfectly sums up the true nature of the Battles waged by the Messiah. Here is the poem:

“I love war, my friends,

I love war!

I love war on oneself.

I also love those who wage it;

But war without rifle or cannon,

Without bombs or machines of war

Bruising the flesh

And shedding the blood of the innocent.

My own war, the one I prefer,

Is the silent war without projectiles;

It is war on selfishness, envy and jealousy,

It is war on separateness, mediocrity and intolerance,

It is war in Love and not in indifference.

I love war on oneself,

The war that pulverises the ego,

The war waged without plane or ship,

The war that leads to inner harmony,

The war that knows no respite,

Yet flows back onto international Peace

And Universal harmony.

… Let us forget the price to be paid

For a triumph without glory

And savour in advance

Our silent Victory on the Path

Of Liberating perfection.”
