Prière et Hommage à la Terre-Mère
“All religions have paid great attention to the worship of Mother Earth. Likewise, a large number of beliefs, myths and rituals relate to Mother Earth.
From the Vedas, we have made these few eloquent extracts in their own right :
Your eastern and northern quarters, O Earth,
Those of the south, and also of the ponant,
May they be hospitable to me as I travel,
May I not fall when I lean on the ground…
Whether we want to stand up or sit down,
Or stand and walk,
With right or left foot,
May we not stagger on Earth…
May the Earth give us luck and prestige…
Shower us with splendor…
It’s on Earth that we offer to the Gods
The sacrifice, the libation well done,
On the Earth that humans live,
Of food and juice, these mortals.
May the Earth give us Breath and Life,
May the Earth grant me to reach Old Age…
Rocks, earth, stone or dust,
Earth is firm and steady
Her breast is made of gold
I pay homage to the Earth.”
