The Yoga of Air Energy
According to Indian philosophy, at the base of the Universe are two substances, the AKASHA and the Prāna. Everything comes from AKASHA. It corresponds to a state of matter that diversifies into air, fire, water and earth. Air is the bodily expression of Prāna. It has ten functions, including five main ones. There is a science of breath flow (SVARA), known to the Sages. Through Prānayama, many qualities can be developed. Mastery of Prāna opens the door to the practice of meditation, to spiritual elevation. The heart is the seat of VĀYU-TATTVA, it is the path leading to high Wisdom. Purification is the cornerstone of spiritual work and its complement, the marriage of Love and Knowledge. Mystics the world over attribute great importance to breathing exercises. Yoguis believe that Prānayama methodically practiced, brings about the coming of certain fruits; and the Gheranda Samhita confirms this: “Through Prānayama, the power of levitation is attained. Through Prānayama, the sick are healed. Through Prānayama, Shakti is awakened. By Prānayama, are obtained: calmness of mind and exaltation of mental powers (example clear-sightedness). Through this, the mind becomes full of bliss. Truly, he who practices Prānayama is happy. ” Let us love all our fellow creatures, visible and invisible, and pray to the Divine to help us serve our fellow human beings and all of nature. Let us pray often Let us love much, Without expecting anything in return Let us give of our hearts, And of ourselves with generosity, In order to contribute, To this alchemical work, Concerning the future of all beings. Let us remember Swami Sivananda’s wise advice: “Make your body the Temple of the Lord, become drunk with God and filled with God.” THOUGHT TO MEDITATE “Air is the symbol of Spiritual Love, of the Higher Life where the Christ principle dominates, where freedom is experienced and the soul comes to full expression. It is the symbol of the Buddhist plane, as water is that of the affective plane.” Alice Bailey. Le Yoga de l’Amour dans la force p. 157. S. HAMSAH MANARAH
