POSITIVE THINKING

Thought, let us remember, is creative: it is better to favour positive thoughts which, without denying difficulties, help to face them. They go hand in hand with benevolent, fraternal and united thoughts to contribute to the moral and spiritual elevation of the planet. [1] For those who want to improve their lives, “optimism is the transmutant of the negative tendencies of the being” – sadness, doubt, fear, anxiety and hostile feelings.

“To be optimistic is to welcome events with the best hope;

it is to be ready to have a good advantage to draw from the most unfavorable situations;

it is to cultivate this positive mental attitude which helps to see the good, the great

without, however, falling into the blissful optimism of one who loses touch with reality… “.

( The Yoga of Practical Life p. 160)

In practice, to reach a goal, we can accompany our efforts with selected affirmations which, counterbalancing the fears of failure, open up to success. This can be a maxim or an affirmation such as “Kindness grows in me”, “I am divinely inspired, enlightened, guided” etc. Repeated, displayed, combined with the breath, they permeate our mind.[2] (Techniques developed in The Yoga of Practical Life ch. VI, VII.)

To find more strength, we can promote the growth of our sense of oneness with “the Source of all Good” by stating, for example:

“I am the Supreme Self in Oneness with Divine Consciousness”

or “I am more and more in Unity with the Ideal of the Golden Age”[3].
