BREAKING OUT OF DIVISIONS

To feel separate from others is to think that they’re not part of the same humanity. “It’s giving oneself the precious pretext of saying, ‘I’m not the other, so I can do anything to him’ (Towards a Golden Age of Unity, p 192). This condones acts of hatred that culminate in barbarism, particularly that of war, with the dehumanization of both victims robbed of their humanity and executioners expressing only their inhumanity.

It’s forgetting that we’re all part of the same humanity.

It’s “seeing appearances and forgetting that God is in everyone”, which, in Aumism and other Traditions, is the foundation of the unity of humanity.

We’re all interconnected: we can’t hurt others without hurting ourselves. So we understand that learning to neutralize our aggressive reactions with thoughts of kindness and forgiveness protects both others and ourselves from the consequences of our violence. What’s more, to be kind to others is to be kind to ourselves! .

By promoting respect for human rights around the world, and collective interest beyond selfishness, we can step by step pave the way to the unity that alone will save our planet from the ravages of division:

« Unity is not the crushing of opposites, but their reconciliation,
their unification in a single, united and fraternal whole.”
(La Révolution du monde des Vivants et des Morts, p.506)
