SCIENCE AND CONSCIOUSNESS

Aumism encourages scientific advances in the service of present and future generations, their longevity and full human development. By improving living conditions for all, while respecting the environment, they contribute to the common good.. [1]      

But the abuses of science without conscience, and its various technological applications, are often complicit in the most destructive processes. In particular, “with the progress of science, every war that threatens us is more deadly than the last”.. » (Aumism, the Doctrine of the golden Age, p. 312). [2]

The survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, for example, are reminding us of this, and their organization was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize this year for its efforts to achieve a world without nuclear weapons..

The state of the world thus challenges scientists not to forget or sell off their moral conscience. [3] “Science without conscience is but the ruin of the soul”, and we might add: “science without conscience is certainly the ruin of the world”.. » (Aumism, the Doctrine of the golden Age p. 174).
