Relationship with money

In today’s society, it is useful and legitimate to “have enough to clothe and feed oneself, to raise and educate one’s children and ensure them a better future”. ( Vers un Age d’Or d’Unité, p. 143).

But Lord HAMSAH MANARAH points out in The Yoga of Practical Living, p.243: “Evil arises when the appetite for money for money’s sake makes us forget all spiritual values”. Humans who have become slaves to the “money god” want to satisfy their lust for material goods, their desire for power, by whatever means necessary, even the most unworthy.. [1]

The antidotes to this slavery ?

– Detachment : wealth can go hand in hand with wisdom for those who know how to “consider themselves the temporary manager of acquired goods.” (Le Yoga de la vie pratique, p.236)

– Solidarity: helping those in need without discrimination avoids the trap of predatory egoism..[2]

Without forgetting that kindness and greatness of soul are the “true riches independent of all fortune. »  [3]
