BREATHING TO CALM DOWN

There are times when it is difficult not to be overwhelmed by events that disrupt daily life. Emotions quickly reach saturation point. If you have to accept your emotions, you have to make an effort for yourself and those around you to overcome the destabilizing tensions.

The simplest way is to reconnect with the life force by focusing on the breath that carries it: “All you have to do is apply yourself to breathing slowly, progressively and deeply to regain your calm and serenity. The Deep Breathing has already been proposed [1] – as well as suggestions for developing self-confidence and mastering the imagination. [2]

You don’t have the time? Your mind is elsewhere? Among the techniques listed in Naturopathy and Yoga, the easiest one can help you instantly reconnect with the reassuring regularity and continuity of your breath.

Quiet breathing (p. 62)

– Sitting comfortably or lying on your back, relax.

– Breathe out gradually and completely, then let the air in on its own without effort.

– Be aware of the act of breathing. Feel the movement of the abdomen, the diaphragm, the ribs, the thorax.

– Repeat the experience several times until you feel a real relaxation.

Start with a small number of times, which you increase gradually. Also increase the frequency of the exercise.

Effects: promotes relaxation. Recharge in energy. Increases the concentration power of the mind.

Breathing consciously as often as possible calms the body and mind, helps to distance oneself from stress and thus to better cope with the unexpected.
