FAMILY LIFE

Assuming family, social and professional obligations in the world gives us daily opportunities to develop a sense of responsibility, more altruism and concern for those around us and, little by little, for all humanity.  [1]  Cultivating, for example, love and respect for differences within one’s family is a real factor of progress on the spiritual path of Aumism.  [2] This is expressed in this passage from the book “Spiritual Master and Disciple”, p. 283:

“Love for one’s family members is a step on the path of universal Love.

Married life, the education of children, the confrontation with difficulties, family and social responsibilities, all these help in the formation of character, in the transformation of man, in the development of his qualities.

One becomes accustomed to overcoming certain forms of selfishness, and in the end, conscious sacrifices for the happiness of those one loves are even natural. (…) Out of love for one’s family, one learns to be patient, to control one’s reactions, one’s language, so as not to hurt or scandalize. One spares the children so vulnerable in their innocence and their sensitivity. When love weakens, the feeling of duty replaces it…

If one is a mystic, one applies oneself to see God in those who surround us, love us and whom we cherish. “
